Hey my terrific followers, I shall call you “Huckocrites” from now on (Does that sound corny?) , but there is a tumblr virus going around, I had it and I fixed it. It looked tumblr-offical and popped up and asked you to log in because of adult content. If you see this DO NOT TYPE IN YOUR INFO, let this person know that they have a virus via fan mail. Akevitt is the traditional spirit of Scandinavia, where it’s been produced since the 15th century. Somewhat like vodka, akevitt in Norway is made from potatoes and gets its flavor from the aging process and added spices and herbs (generally caraway or dill).
Instead of a drawing today I made a short little song. I have a sort of audio notebook full of crummy little song ideas that I generally pass over and so here is where I will record them quickly and sloppily and serve em up for no reason. Enjoy!
When you think of Norway (if you think of it at all), what comes to mind? Stunning scenery? Vikings? A successful socially liberal society? Hot blondes?
Sarah Johnson at Reading the Past has very graciously allowed me to provide a primer on Norwegian history, leading up to the dissolution of the union of Norway and Sweden in 1905 (the background to Oleanna, which will be released on Monday, January 23!).
Just a quick note to let you know that Heather Domin’s new novella is now available for free. Allegiance is an historical novella set in 1922 Dublin, a story of dangerous romance in a time of bitter turmoil.
Heather has such an amazingly deft touch with historical detail, and the story is a great mix of action and romance. Give yourself a New Year’s gift and check it out!
